RazorPicks 08 — Week 4 My Picks

Here they are:

1. Wyoming @ #14 BYU (Mountain West vs Mountain West)
BYU is just playing some phenomenal football right now. After demolishing UCLA, I don't think the Cowboys from Wyoming are going to be much of a problem at all.
Cowboys 10 Cougars 49
2. #4 Florida @ Tennessee (SEC vs SEC)
Tennessee hasn't looked very good in either of their first two games. They struggled against what looked like a VERY good UCLA Defensive front (until BYU torched them) and then struggled again at home against UAB. Florida hasn't been overly impressive thus far either. However, Meyer hasn't lost to Phil since coming to the SEC. That trend continues today.
Gators 28 Vols 17
3. Rice @ #7 Texas (Conference USA vs Little XII)
In a final tune-up before better competition, the Shorthorns get a visit from the Owls. Rice has had to practice anywhere it can after Ike came through. Look for this one to mercifully be over by half.
Owls 13 Shorthorns 52
4. #18 Wake Forest @ #24 Florida State (ACC vs ACC)
Jakob Skinner is just a great senior QB for the Demon Deacons. Florida State on the other hand, may not have very many players available to them after all of the suspensions and what not being handed down in Tallahassee. The Seminoles just aren't back to the level many hope they are.
Deacons 24 Criminals 14
5. UMass @ #11 Texas Tech (Atlantic-10 vs Little XII)
Probably the last pastry on the appetizer list before the Red Raiders head into Little XII competition. They had better use it to fine-tune that offense some more that at times has sputtered. Look for it to be a good final outing for the Harrell-Crabtree express.
Minutemen 17 Raiders 49
6. #9 Alabama @ Arkansas (SEC vs SEC)
The games between these two schools over the past couple of years have come to define excitement. 2 years ago, Arkansas used the help of TWO missed FG and a missed PAT by Bama to finally beat the Tide in OT. Last year, after spotting the Tide 28 in the first quarter, the Hogs rallied to take the lead with 1:27 left, only to see JPW march the Tide down the field and with a circus catch nip the Hogs at the final buzzer. This year hopefully will continue that trend.
Tide 36 Hogs 38 3OT
7. #3 Georgia @ Arizona State (SEC vs PAC-10)
This looked like it was shaping up to be a good test for the Bulldogs down in the desert (and it may still be). However, after losing at home to UNLV, the Sun Devils aren't looking as daunting. Everyone wants to knock the Bulldogs for "barely" beating South Carolina in Columbia. That Defense that USC-E has is EXTREMELY impressive. Let OU or USC-W play them and see how they do. The Buldogs are just fine thank you.
JawJa 31 Sun Devils 17
8. #15 East Carolina @ NC State (Conference USA vs ACC)
This could possibly be the final hurdle for a very good ECU team and let them run the table and be undefeated at the end of the season and your official BCS-Buster. Skip Holtz HAS to keep them focused and keep their minds OUT of the paper. They don't need to know how good they are. NC State knocked off a VERY good Cal team last week. Look for this to be a good game, but the Pirates D and Patrick Pinkney win in the end.
Pirates 21 Pack 13
9. Middle Tennessee @ Arkansas State (Sun-Belt vs Sun-Belt)
The "Indians" are a very salty team this year. I give you that after nearly pulling off the upset last week over Southern Miss. Wow. Thought they had no shot in that game and they had a chance at the end to win it. Middle Tennessee came up about 3 1/2 FEET short of upsetting Kentucky at home last week on a hail mary that nearly was. Look for it to be close at first and the ASU to pull away.
MTSU 17 ASU 34

10. #6 LSU @ #10 Auburn (SEC vs SEC)
If you thought the 3 – 2 game last week in Starkvile was something, wait until you see this one. That game in Starkville could end up being a SCORE FEST considered next to this one. Two mammoth defenses will take the field. Tubberville and the Spread Experiment will see if it really will work against another TOP defense in the country. It didn't work so well in Starkville as we saw with that lofty 3 points. Welcome to the SEC Mr. Spread. So, what will the Bengal Tigers do with it? I am not sure. I haven't been all that impressed with LSU yet either. In the end it will be a classic night game on the Plains and I think the Home Tigers some how find a way to win it. Where they get the offense, I guess is on defense.
