2010 RazorPicks Week 9 – My Picks

Oct 30

Alright, so here they are for week 9:

  • Okie State 49 @ K-State 24
    • Gundy and Okie Lite will try to bounce back from their first loss of the season at home to Nebraska last week where their defense was shredded by Taylor Martinez and the Huskers. K-State was losing on the road in Waco last week, so expect them to be ready to play for Coach Snider. However, even on the road, Okie Lite has the better athletes and should win, even w/out start WR Blackmon who was arrested on an apparent DUI charge.
  • Tulsa 24 @ Notre Dame 35
    • Notre Dame is dealing with the death of an assistant coach who died when the crane he was sitting in filming practice was blown over by a 51 mph wind gust. Why they had the guy up there filming in that weather anyways is beyond me. However, the Hurricanes are decent again as always on offense, but not very good on defense. So, I think Crist has a big day for the Irish and they win easily at home.
  • Michigan State 23 @ Iowa 21
    • I am going to admit I am clearly drinking the Sparty Kool-Aide at this point. And honestly, how can you not be? After some very charmed wins this season, it looks like Dantonio has Cousins playing extremely well and on their way to a record season. Iowa though is still very, very good and at home, they are even better. The Badgers escaped with a 1 point win in Iowa City and I suspect that this game will be just as close. Another heart-breaking loss for the Hawkeyes.
  • Florida 17 @ Georgia 27
    • I just think Georgia is on the up-swing right now and their offense seems to be clicking pretty good with Murray and AJ Green getting more comfortable as a duo. However, Meyer and that Florida D is still very, very good. The only thing is, they can't stay on the field all day and expect to not give up points to an above average UGA offense.  The Gator O is just gone. I mean gone. Almost to the point they are the Gatrs nowadays. It isn't going to be much easier this week in Jacksonville and I expect Mark Richt to get his second ever win against Meyer this year.
  • Texas Tech 24 @ aTm 27
    • I know that Tech has owned aTm in the past couple of years, but this isn't that same Leach Tech team of years gone by. This is a Tech team in a transition period from the wild, run-fun-gun offense to a more conservative, ball-control style offense with a VERY good defense. So, during a transition year, you go with the home conference team most of the time. However, the Aggies are ALMOST as much a Jeckyll-Hyde team as the Red Raiders this year. Getting walloped at home by Mizzou didn't do much for their confidence and it could the swan song for Sherman in College Station. I think they do just enough to win though in this one.
  • Auburn 27 @ Ole Miss 20
    • As General Ackbar would say "It's a Trap!". Every year Hootie Dale pulls off the monumental upset of the season. He did it in the Swamp two years ago. He beat LSU at home last year and this year he gets the Auburn Tigers and his arch-nemesis Gus Malzhan this week in Oxford. Only problem is, Cam Newton. There is no more complete player right now in college football. And even the nail-biting prowess that is Houston Nutt isn't going to stop that guy from running rough-shod over the Rebel Black Bear defense. There will be no lightning delays this weekend to prolong the inevitable.
  • Oregon 55 @ USC 31
    • While I secretly wish that Chip Kelley would hang 100 on the Half-Monty in the Colesium, I don't think he is that kind of a coach. I wish he was, and the way he acted toward the officials at HOME against Stanford, one has to wonder. I love watching that offense play and man can they put up points in a hurry. I suspect that even the famed Monty Kiffin isn't going to have a scheme to slow down the Duck Parade. The Ducks keep on quacking.
  • Baylor 20 @ Texas 28
    • After getting their manhood challenged in the media this week, I fully expect every assistant coach and player on the UT sideline to have their respective units ready to play the game of their lives. If for some reason they aren't ready to play, look for Mack Brown to have the most public of public meltdowns after the game. That press conference could set box office records should the Shorthorns lose to the Bears. I mean if they lose to Iowa State and Baylor in the same season, at home … wow, that is going to be some of the best drama ever seen for the eyes of Texas.
  • Michigan 30 @ Penn State 27
    • Shoelace is back this week and fully recovered and well rested. Not exactly the combination you want if you are JoePa. The Nitny Lions have been abysmal on defense this year not able to stop many people. And as bad as they have been on defense, lord the offense has been tragically worse.
  • Missouri 21 @ Nebraska 27
    • So you want to show you are for real Mizzou? Well this is your chance. If you can continue the streak of not allowing a 100 yard rusher to 5 games today against the Huskers, then I will believe you are a legit BCS contender. However, that is no small task to say the least. Taylor Martinez was pulled in his last game at home in the 3rd quarter after being ineffective against Texas. Don't look for him to repeat that performance again at home. Especially considering Martinez torched the Okie Lite defense last weekend in Stillwater to the tune of 5 TDs. It will be an interesting matchup to say the least. I expect the Husker nation to be ready though.

2010 RazorPicks Week 8 Results

Oct 26

Alright so Week 8 is in the books. And boy, was it an interesting week to say the least. Let's look at 5 things that stood out to me:

  1. So a couple of things that will be answered this week are: a) is Missouri that good or is Oklahoma that bad? b) and is the Little XII South really this weak? Missouri ran through what was believed to be a very good OU defense in Columbia on Saturday evening. And the Missouri Defense intercepted Landry "Don't hate on the 'stache" Jones 2 times and held DeMarco Murray in check by only allowing him 49 yards on the ground. But the odds were against the Sooners. It was raining. It was a night. OU was going for 7 in a row against Pinkle. Fate just wasn't on their side. Missouri will get to show what they are made of for real now though as they travel to Lincoln, NE on Saturday. Hello, Taylor Martinez.
  2. Cam Newton. While I don't like the young man, and certainly have questioned his understanding of the law regarding taking things that don't belong to you, I will have to admit the kid can flat out play football. He made the SEC's best run defense and the 5th best run defense in the county look down right juvenile. LSU was giving up an average of 84 yards per game on the ground. Newton, BY HIMSELF, ran for 217. As a TEAM, Auburn ran for 440 yards. Yes, those mathematically challenged among you, that is 5x their normal amount or rushing yards allowed for the LSU D. So, while he still has several games to play (on the road) Cam Newton is most definitely the Heisman front-runner at the 8 week point of the season and no one is even in the rear-view mirror (even Patrick Peterson).
  3. Michigan State could be the "charmed" team this year. Already they have pulled a fake FG in double OT at home to upend the Fighting Irish. Now they found themselves down 17 – 0 at Northwestern. Yes, Northwestern. So what did they do? Oh just rally to take the lead on an amazing deflected, tipped again, and then the one-hand circus catch by B.J. Cunnigham that capped the furious comeback by Sparty. The going doesn't get any easier for the Spartans where they travel to Iowa City and are a 6.5 point … underdog??? Wow. Still no respect.
  4. Just how good is the Oregon Ducks' offense? Well, we may not fully know until they play an actual defense in possibly the BCS Championship game. Until then they will continue to put up gaudy numbers against a horrific PAC-10 defensive effort week in and week out. This week they travel to the Coliseum to face Half-Monty and the not-so-mighty Trojans. In their first game ever as the AP #1 team in the country, Oregon put up 60 points, 312 passing yards, 270 rushing yards in only 21:29 in TOP. Oregon has just been downright rude at home this year. In going 4 – 0 they are outscoring opponents 63.3 to 11.0. They have scored 33 TDs to their opponents 5 and are averaging an eye-popping 649 ypg. Wow! These guys are better than the video game!
  5. So, how do you not talk about what happened down in Austin, Texas this past Saturday. For the second consecutive home game, Texas was embarrassed and handily beaten by a MUCH inferior team AT HOME. (LOVE IT). This week it wasn't storied UCLA who came into Austin and went away with the win. No, it was that other ballyhooed program from the Big XII North that derailed the mighty burnt orange express … Iowa State?!?! Wow. It is just really hard to fathom that, but yep, the team ranking LAST in total Offense and total Defense in the Little XII actually took Texas apart and led 28 – 6 entering the 4th quarter. Texas was able to add two TDs in the 4th, but the game wasn't really as close as the 7 point final score. Amazing really. This is the same Iowa State team who had been beaten in its two previous games by a combined 120 to 27. Woowzer. However, I will give Mack Brown credit because he absolutely, positively nailed it when he said that his "players and coaches have a sense of entitlement." Wow Mack, it took you this long to figure out Texas has a superiority complex?? Good think you are a fast learner. It only took 11 1/2 years to figure it out. Brilliant my man. Brilliant.

Pick of the Week

Well, if you have taken a gander at the game results page then you can probably guess who the winner of this particular award is this week. Out of all the contestants this individual was the only one who game Gary Pinkel and the Mizzou Tigers a shot to end their 6-game losing streak to OU. Apparently this person knew more than the rest of us or just likes to pick underdogs. Either way, for that pick, the POTW for Week 8 goes to Mr. Jason "Just can't Stand OU is All" Shirey. Congratulations bud (sorry 'bout the Phils).

Brick of the Week

Well, while at the time it sure seemed like a great pick for the upset, now looking back, it doesn't really look all that great actually. I mean you had North Carolina winners of 4 in a row going to Miami to take on the Hurricanes who were having ALL kinds of trouble holding on to the ball and had just been whipped up and down the field for rival Florida State. So, you're thinking Butch Davis has this whole NCAA Controversy thing down pat and it isn't distracting them at all. Yeah, like I said, sounded good until the game and when the dust cleared Miami had beaten the Tar Heels by 23! Yikes. Oh well. Therefore the BOTW goes to Mr. Jake "Hey, defense wins championships, right?" Monden, Mr. Alex "Tough week for OU" Rowland, Mrs. Jessica "I can't believe I picked against Mizzou", and Mr. Damon "Hey at least Texass AND OU lost" Hill. Enjoy.

Champion of the Week

As the games continue to get harder and harder, it is becoming more and more clear who is the lucky guessers among the group. Just kidding. There are actually some very knowledgeable people in regards to college football out there, but I don't think any of them are in our contest. There were quite a few people though that did extremely well this week by picking 8 out of the 11 games correctly. I believe we had 5 people actually pull that off. An of those five, we actually had an individual pick the tiebreak game correctly AND picked the score, DEAD ON. That means they most definitely win with a tiebreak score of 0. Sorry Jess, a tiebreak score of 3 is pretty amazing as well. But, Week 8 COTW goes to none other than Mr. Lee "I need the distraction from the pending birth of my third child and first girl" Smith. Congratulations my dear friend!

2010 RazorPicks Week 8 My Picks

Oct 23

Alright, here they are:

  • North Carolina 20 @ Miami (FL) 17 — Butch Davis is in quite possibly the worst situation in college football today. More than likely this is a swan song not only for him, but for AD Dick Baddour. Someone's heads are going to roll for the calamity that is UNC football, and they will start at the top. Putting that aside, North Carolina has won 4 in a row. They take on a TO-prone Miami team that just isn't impressive at all yet. Look for the UNC defense to be the difference here in South Florida.
  • Georgia Tech 24 @ Clemson 27 - Georgia Tech is really the only one of these teams with a shot at returning to the ACC Championship game (which isn't really saying alot for Clemson). However, I still can't get out of my mind the thrashing the Yellow Jackets took at home to NC State a couple of weeks ago. Man that game was ugly. It just showed me that the Jackets will have a tough time stopping the RB Duo of Harper and Ellington for the Tigers who are very, very good. Clemson wins in a close, close game.
  • #13 Wisconsin 17 @ #15 Iowa 24 – It's Big 10 football. It won't be pretty. It won't even be entertaining. But it IS Big 10 football. Look for the Hawkeyes to be ready and for the Badgers to have a letdown from that emotional win last weekend @ Camp Randall over #1 Ohio State. Ferentz is a better coach than Bielema and it shows today. Boring football folks.
  • Ole Miss 13 @ #23 Arkansas 38 - The questions on everyone's mind is if the Razorback Defense is really THAT bad, is Cam Newton really THAT good, or was it just a BAD day for defense and a GOOD day for offense last week on the Plains? Either way, look for a re-focused (hopefully) Razorback team to be ready to handle their old coach this year. It will be over quickly I believe as the Hogs wills score on their first 3 possessions and Ole Miss won't be able to play catchup with their anemic passing game.
  • #22 K-State 28 @ Baylor 35 – Yeah, I know that up until 2 weeks ago K-State was undefeated. They are still 5 – 1 overall, but that is a fluke if you ask me. Look for Baylor to run roughshod over that Wildcat defense at home and look for Baylor to become bowl eligible this weekend. Sic em Bears.
  • #16 Nebraska 31 @ #14 Okie State 21 – Look for Taylor Martinez to bounce back this week, mainly because his receivers have learned how to hang onto the ball. 3 dropped potential TD passes against the Shorthorns last week didn't help the cause one bit. The Blackshirt defense, if it is worth it's salt, will be ready as well. Okie State can light up a scoreboard with the best of them, but look for this game to be tough sledding for the Cowboy O.
  • Texas Tech 31 @ Colorado 27 – Tech is an enigma this year. They play well, then stink it up. They play well, then REALLY stink it up. Since they played horrific last week at home against Okie State, look for them to bounce back against the Hawk and play well. Big Ears is slowly molding this program into his own. It will take a little longer, but they will get there eventually. Question is, will defense win championships in the Little XII??
  • Notre Dame 35 @ Navy 17 – Notre Dame is showing promise for first year coach Kelley. They have more discipline and are more balanced. Amazing what a real coach can do huh Irish? Anyways, they play another military academy and come out on the top … again.
  • #1 Oklahoma 42 @ #11 Missouri 17 – Mizzou better revel in the fact that College Gameday is in town. It will be the only victory they will have this weekend. I am still in awe at the lofty ranking that the Tigers have in the computer polls. It's okay though as reality is about to set in. In a Big Big way. Sooners roll in Columbia.
  • Georgia 38 @ Kentucky 35 – Georgia is a completely different team with AJ Green and their offense is really starting to come around now. Look for them to be able to score on Kentucky. The question is, will they be able to hold off a Kentucky second half surge? The Wildcats have done it each week this year and don't expect that to change. The Bulldogs do however hold on and get the win to right the ship a little more in Athens.
  • #5 LSU 27 @ #4 Auburn 24 – This one should be a great, great game. Cam Newton finally faces a TRUE SEC defense when the Bayou Tigers come to town. John Chavis is a master at Defense and he will have the schemes and the players in place to stop the Heisman chances of Newton on the Plains. There will be a LOT of hitting on the field and only one Tiger will remain standing. And if you wonder how I could pick LSU?? How in the world, especially this year, do you pick against The Hat???

2010 RazorPicks Week 7 Results

Oct 18

So, a lot of things happened over the week that was week 7 in College Football. Some of those things are outlined below:

  1. Cam Newton is good. And if you consider that the Arkansas defense couldn't have tackled Jim Brown (today, when he is 74, not when he was in the NFL) on Saturday, then Cam Newton looks REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY good. We will see just how good when an actual SEC defense comes to the Plains on Saturday with John Chavis and the Mad Hatter from LSU.
  2. The first BCS poll is out. Looks like it is Oklahoma's year to take the BCS Championship. I mean after all, when you play the likes of Iowa State, Texas Tech, Baylor, and Coloraodo and they count as conference games, you pretty much have the thing gift-wrapped for you. Of course, BlowU can still do just that … blow it. Don't forget it is Bedlam, and it is Stoolwater this year, oh and Gundy is "still a MAN!", but over 40 now.
  3. Texas helped Oklahoma get up to that initial #1 ranking in the BCS by going to Lincoln and shutting down the vaunted Husker ground game. Shocking? Oh yeah, considering it was just a few weeks removed since that powerhouse UCLA ground game shredded the Shorthorns in Austin. Pelini is having second thoughts about benching Freshman phenom Taylor Martinez. You don't say?
  4. Boise State. Oh the thwarted Broncos. The hype was just unbearable all week as ESPN tooted your horn and touted you over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over as the consensus #1 team in the BCS. Oh, but what did they know? #3 will have to do for now. And that is as high as you will ever be. Poor things. Just no respect. I just feel so … oh what am I saying, you don't deserve to be #3 for crying out loud.
  5. The team that must have dirty pictures on someone in the Computer Rankings is the Missouri Tigers. #11 in the BCS?? An average of #5 in the computer polls?? Are you serious? Their first 6 opponents are a combined 19 – 18. Their only road game was against a hapless aTm team that looked like they had just started playing organized football last Saturday. Explain to me how you get a #5 computer ranking with that schedule? Geez! But enjoy it while you can. You have the newly anointed #1 Sooners coming to town Saturday, then you go to Lincoln and I don't think I was even alive the last time you won in Lincoln. So, enjoy it while you can.

Oh, and just for the record, it became painfully clear that your beloved Admin here can't count to 10. My 3 1/2 year old has it down pat, but not me. Guess I should let her pick the games. My record would surely improve as well.

Pick of the Week

So I am not 100% sure this has happened before or not but I believe it to be a unique situation nonetheless. We have a tie for the POTW, and it isn't even for the same game! How about them apples? The two games in question were the Texas @ Nebraska and the Mississippi State @ Florida games. One person in the group actually picked the upsets in those games. I would have not given Texass a 1 in a 100 chance of winning that game in Lincoln. Man, talk about totally psyched up for nothing. All the $$ spent by the Huskers on the promotional material for that game. Geez. On the other side of the coin we have Dan Mullens' return to the Swamp … on the other sideline. At this point Urban Meyer has to be wondering who in the world talked him into coming back to this train-wreck of an offense. Geez. So the winners of the Week 7 POTW are Mr. Jake "Got any tips for Willy?" Monden and Mrs. Jessica "Don't sleep on the Shorthorns" Leija. Not real sure Steven will be happy about that pick Jess, but oh well. Congratulations.

Brick of the Week

Real hard to pick a winner on this one this week. As you can tell from the new Games Played page on the site, there weren't any games that stood out as a game that was a big fat doh! It was pretty much all or nothing or split right down the middle. Therefore, for week 7, we are officially going to forego the BOTW and pick it up next week. So everyone try hard next week and make me proud to honor you with the Week 8 BOTW.

Champion of the Week

So, everyone followed my lead this week it appears. Not only did I only select 9 games this week, but everyone decided to just stink it up. I mean. REALLY stink it up. The winner this week picked 6 out of 10. Only ONE person was able to even pull that off. Wow. Talk about some stinkers. Anyway, that one person who picked the 6 is obviously our winner and it really shakes up the overall standings as well. Thus the COTW for Week 7 in RazorPicks is Mr. Jake "I have a GREAT set of schemes for Cam Newton" Monden. Congratulations Jake!

2010 RazorPicks Week 6 Reults

Oct 12

Well, well, well …

So, what have we learned so far through 6 weeks of the 2010 College Football Season???

  • Les Miles has a deal with the devil. There is no denying this because it isn't even up for debate. If you don't believe it by now, take these little facts into account (courtesy Pat Forde):
    1. According to NCAA statistics, FBS teams have played 666 games this season.
    2. LSU gets the worst clock management award and yet is still able to get a 13-men on the field penalty by Tennessee for an un-timed down … and of course they win.
    3. You can try this one at home: take a football and toss it blindly over your head. How many times out of 10 would it bounce as perfectly as it did for Derek Helton the FG holder for LSU on the fake field goal? I am guessing 0.
    4. Add that to the fact that neither the holder nor the kicker new a fake was called b/c they weren't in the huddle. They were told on the field just seconds before it was ran.
    5. The Tigers are 6 – 0 and I dare you, no double dog dare you to best against The Hat the rest of the way this year. Dare ya.
  • Playing quite possibly the worst football they have played in the 3 years under CBP, the Razorbacks still somehow won a game and kept their BCS hopes alive. Big date with Newton/Gus/Dyer on the Plains this weekend.
  • Shoelace Robinson is knocked out of the Heisman Race after a 17 points loss at home to in-state rival Michigan State. Wait? He still is the leader for the Heisman you say? How can that be? I just assumed that when Mallett and Arkansas lost to then #1 ranked Alabama and Mallett was "out of the race" that Shoelace would be as well.
  • The Ol Ball Coach improved to 4 – 1, yes 4 wins and 1 loss, against Ol Nicky Satan this past weekend in Columbia. If the Gamecocks don't win the SEC East this year, this whole Chicken Curse might rival the Curse of the Bambino.
  • In some crazy universe that is strength of scheduling ratings in college football, Boise State is #28. They are only 1 place, yes 1 place behind Alabama. Bama has played @ #12 Arkansas, @ #10 South Carolina, and Penn State. Boise has played Va Tech (lost to James Madison, yes one guy!) and #24 Oregon State. They don't play another ranked team until the day after Thanksgiving against Nevada. They will be 30+ favorites in the rest of their games. Can we PLEAES PLEASE PLEASE for the love of all that is holy STOP TOUTING BOISE AS LEGIT BCS CHAMPION CONTENDERS!!!!!!!!

Brick of the Week

Okay, so a couple of people may have forgotten that Case Keenum was out for Houston. Or maybe they didn't and felt the Dan Mulled Bulldogs would lay an egg in Houston when the visited the Cougars. Either way, these two individuals felt Houston would win. However, they didn't. Actually didn't even come close. It was 40 – 10 at one point in the 3rd quarter. So, therefore, the BOTW goes to Mr. Jon "I couldn't read the tiny print" McCurdy and Mrs. Jessica "Lordy, I swore I picked State" Leija. Sorry.

Pick of the Week

Well, of course the upset of the week, and really the year so far in College Football went down in Columbia, South Carolina when the Gamecocks stopped the 19-game win streak of the Crimson Tide. So, who was actually brave enough to step out on that limb with none other than Kirk "How does my hair look? Anyone seen my stud finder?" Herbstreit? Well, that would be ONE contestant and for the bravery, they win the POTW for week 6. Congratulations goes to Mr. Lee "Never really liked Satan at all" Smith. Congrats my friend!

Champion of the Week

Obviously, probably 8 out of 10 times, if you are selected as the POTW you have a fair shot at getting the COTW as well. Would that hold for this week? The average number right for the week was 5.4 out of 10. So, it wasn't going to take much to get to be top dog this week. However, with a record of 7 – 3, the top honors goes to Mr. Lee "Picking against Bama always works" Smith. Congratulations my fiend!

RazorPicks Week 5 Results

Oct 04

Okay, so I missed last week's results. Hopefully I will have time to get a write-up this week. However here is your write-up for Week 5 with a link to the results on the new RazorPicks site.

What we learned from Week 5 in NCAA FB

  1. Oregon Ducks Offense. Pretty good stuff they have out there in Eugene. Oregon Ducks second half defense. Could even be more impressive. 5 games, 7 second half points given up.
  2. Alabama Crimson Tide. Easily the best team in the country, if not offensively, then most definitely defensively. Of course Florida shot itself in the foot way too many times Saturday.
  3. Who is the worse 5 – 0 team? LSU or Oklahoma? LSU will get their just deserts soon enough. But OU on the other hand, due to the laughable Little XII will cake-walk to the Little XII Championship game. Where the dream will end thanks to a team that can actually play defense.
  4. Denard Robinson. The real deal or the beneficiary of some simply horrific defensive teams? This weekend should be interesting as Sparty comes to town. Verdict is still out.
  5. Andrew Luck. So, I am looking, and still haven't found the "Luck is out of the Heisman Race" comments or articles yet. Seems that only happens if you are Ryan Mallett, you play for Arkansas, and lose to the best team in the country … by 4 points. Media is a joke.
  6. Jerrod Jefferson. He could quite possibly be the first QB that is the best player for BOTH teams when he takes a snap from center. 12 TDs 8 INTs (all INTs in last 2 games) and so many fumbles, we can't keep count. Should be interesting in Dallas this weekend.

Pick of the Week

So there could be some shenanigans going on with the POTW for week 5. However, if there were some completely and utter collusion being done, it doesn't explain the end results. For you see, the POTW is going to a husband/wife combination this week. However, if they were able to pick this upset (in most people's minds it would be an upset) then how come they didn't have the same record for the week? I guess they only discussed that one game that night. Anyways, for both of them picking Iowa State to beat Texas Tech, the POTW goes to Mr. Alex "quit picking on my po' Sooners' Rowland, and Mrs. Darlene "I know more about sports than the site admin" Rowland. Congratulations amigos!

Brick of the Week

And so the phenomenon happens once again. Every now and then contestants get so caught up in the need to pick upsets, whether it be to make up spots in the overall standings or just to try and get up on the Big Boards (POTW or BOTW) that they just lose all sense of reality. That is probably what can be said of this particular situation. Yes, this individual was also awarded the POTW, but seriously, this pick would most definitely get you the BOTW, even if you were NOT the only contestant to pick the underdog. But you were the only one. And your underdog turned out to be more of a puppy than a dog. So, for picking Florida to upend mighty Bama, the BOTW for week 5 goes to Mr. Alex "enough with the Sooner shots please, Landry is growing the 'stache back" Rowland. Congratulations bud.

Champion of the Week

In a given week when the average correct number of picks was 5.7, it is quite impressive for someone to correctly pick 8 out of 10, let alone THREE individuals to do it. So, we once again are resorting back to the tiebreak. And, it isn't often that when we move to the tiebreak that we STILL have a tie. And that is exactly what happened this week. Not only was their "tiebreak score" identical, but they each chose the final score the same! Both had Oregon winning 31 – 28. Ironic. So, the co-champion for Week 5 is Mrs. Darlene "most weeks its better to be good than lucky" Rowland and Mr. Jonathan "At least ND finally won another game" Butcher. Congratulations!
