Sorry for the delay.
Life gets in the way sometimes.

Top 10 Things Seen/Heard/Saw in Week 5 of College Football

  • The Beavers!!! Hail to the Beavers!!! For the second straight time in Corvalis, the Beavers upended the highly rated, highly heralded, highly over blown USC Trojans!!
  • 25 games. That is how long it had been since Duke had tasted victory in the lowly ACC. That is until they pummeled Virginia 31 – 3.
  • Houston Dale gave the Disillusioned Ole Miss fans hope for the future. The Rebels somehow ended their 9 game SEC losing streak by winning in……The Swamp! Good Lord help us all.
  • The UNC resurgence is in full force. After losing starting QB, Butch Davis and the Tarheels marched into Miami and upended the Hurricanes.
  • There aren't many things to say about the Michigan comeback against the Badgers, except Oh My Lord. Michigan had 21 TOTAL yards at half and trailed 19 – 0 only to comeback and win. WOW!
  • The Rice Owls scored 77 points in a football game. Granted it was against North Texas, but still. 77 points??? By Rice??? Wow.
  • Alabama totally dominated Georgia between the hedges. The first half was just a blur for the Bulldogs as they fell behind 31 – 0. Geez.
  • The Razorbacks can't really take many more steps backward at the QB position. At some point, you should fall completely off the ledge. Wonder if we can start moving forward next week?
  • Get ready because it is coming. What is that you ask? The is Notre Dame for real talk. They could easily win 9 games this year. However, it won't mean anything except they have the easiest schedule known to man.
  • The Spread just can't seem to find any traction in the SEC so far for Auburn. We will see how it does against Vandy this week.

Brick of the Week

I typically don't do this, but this week I will make an exception. The BOTW will go to 2 individuals who were the only ones to pick the Hogs to upend the Horns in Austin. Of course, we all know that didn't happen. Typically I don't dole out punishment for "homer" picks. However, this week, with the slate of games, and the results, this was the only game worthy of a BOTW selection. Therefore, for their picks of Arkansas over Texass, the BOTW goes to Mr. Carroll "It is all about School PRIDE" Walls and Mr. Damon "Won't EVER pick against the Hogs" Hill.

Pick of the Week

This one was VERY easy this week. Of the 17 individuals who submitted picks this week, only ONE person correctly predicted that North Carolina would upend Miami @ Miami. Now granted it took an unbelievable play at the end of the game for the Tarheels to pull out the win, but a win is a win. So, the POTW this week goes to Mr. Carroll "It is still all about School PRIDE" Walls. Congratulations bud!

Champion of the Week

Well, we had the "makeup" game this week after the cancellation of the Arkansas vs Texas game back on September 13 in Week 3. That extra game, really didn't help many people at all this week. Of course this week saw us return to the moniker of last season where teams outside the Top 25 beat teams in the Top 10. USC and Florida being the victims this week. However, there were two individuals who correctly picked 8 of the 11 games. Therefore, the tiebreaker went into play again this week. And I think this might actually be a first for this in the entire 8 years of the Pick-Em. The individual who is your COTW was also the winner of the BOTW and the POTW. That my friends in the holy grail of the Pick-EM. Therefore, with a tie-break score of 18 points, your Week 5 Pick-Em COTW is Mr. Carroll "Told you it was about School PRIDE" Walls. Congratulations!
