drama, drama, and then there is drama

so, those of you who visit my site are more than likely aware of the most bizarre season that is currently winding down up on "the Hill"..

I am of course referring to my beloved Arkansas Razorbacks…
this past year can be categorized as nothing short of a daytime soap opera of the absolute worst kind….

it all began with the much balleyhooed hiring of a high school head coach to run the offense of an SEC School…
that would be on Guz Malzhan…
he was to be given the "keys to the proverbial kingdom" and the Arkansas Razorbacks were going to march onto the field and throw the ball seven ways to sunday and just completely and utterly dissect every opponent on their schedule with the offensive genius that is the Hurry Up No Huddle offense…
worked great….right up until that first game against USC…
Arkansas wanted pay back…all it got was pancaked….AGAIN!
not 70 – 17 this time, but instead just 50 – 14…closer right??
that there offense is going great Gus…

well, things slowly evolved over the season and it was clear that the players to run this HUNH of Gus' were no were to be found in the QB and WR spot…
therefore, the Razorbacks rode the broad shoulders of one Darren McFadden and one Felix Jones to a 10 game win streak, an out right SEC West title and a spot in the SEC Championship game…
all of this after coming off back to back 4 – 7 seasons…
this Gus hiring was really working out….right???

well, three losses to end the season didn't sit well…
rumors started flying left and right….
Gus was told that David Lee of the Cowboys was going to be brought in to help on the offensive side of the ball and Gus would share duties with Coach Lee…
Gus though decided he was tired of HDN and Frank's antics and decided to bolt for greener pastures down Highway 412 to the mighty Tulsa Golden Hurricanes…

no matter who you are, you can't spin that positively for the U of A…
then the next bombshell was dropped when Gatorade Player of the Year QB Mitch Mustain decided to get his release from the U of A…
it was granted and the entire state collectively hit the fan…
then Mitch decides…well, I just want to think about "all of my options" and re-enrolled at the U of A….but NOT on the football team…
yeah, it does get better..

now David Lee was hired as OC from the Cowboys and there were several prominent recruits that have since committed to the U of A…
however, this morning we learned possibly why David Lee left the Cowboys as Bill Parcells retired….AGAIN…
now the most bizarre part of this entire drama is about to unfold before our very eyes..
everyone from ESPN to the local cub reporter is reporting that Houston Dale is the leading candidate for the Cowboy job…
so, where does that leave my beloved Razorbacks??
will the money-hungry powers that be allow Houston to leave and if so, who comes in to fill that spot in this most crucial time of recruiting?
who in their right mind would want to become Frank Broyles' hand puppet should this occur??
what about David Lee then?
does he remain the OC for the Razorbacks??

I can tell you right now, this won't work out for the good for anyone who loves the Razorbacks..
currently an entire state is divided on this issue as if we were discussing the next presidential election…
half want Houston drawn and quartered…
the other half want him enshrined in the ring of honor at Cowboys' stadium…

some where in between is where yours truly squarely sits…
i believe Houston should be given the opportunity to prove that he can release the reins of an offense and truly become a CEO..
i just don't believe he felt comfortable doing that with a high school coach last year, but will feel extremely more comfortable doing that with an nfl-seasoned OC at the helm…
however, I haven't received a call from Jim Lindsey or any Board of Trustee member asking my opinion on the issue yet..

wait…..the phone is ringing….

"hello?"
…………..
"oh, hi mom…."

to be continued…….
