RazorPicks 2009 – Week 4 Results

10 Things We Learned In Week 4

  • As some expected, the Ole Miss Rebels were way, way, way, way overrated.
  • LSU still hasn't put a complete game together yet this year. A goal line stand at Miss State held off the upset bid of the Bulldogs.
  • Will the real Florida State Seminoles please stand up? I mean, honestly, what is up with this team????
  • Defense beats offense most of the time. In Tuscaloosa, an outstanding defense beat an above-average offense. Bama is much better than last year.
  • Oregon found an offense and California forgot to pack theirs on their trip. WOW what a blistering blowout the Ducks laid on the Bears.
  • The U might have come back to reality as they had a huge setback in Blacksburg. Bud Foster showed the ACC how to stop Jacory Harris.
  • TCU appears to be a potential BCS Buster as they continue to get big wins. This time in Death Valley as the Clemson Tigers are the victims of the Horned Frogs.
  • Houston also could be another BCS Buster as they knocked off their second Little XII team as they beat Texas Tech in Houston. Okie State was the other victim of the Cougs.
  • Washington couldn't handle the success as they traveled to Stanford and were beaten by the Cardinal. Got to learn how to handle the success.
  • How overrated is the Big 10? The supposed best team in your conference can't beat a sub-par team at home, at night, with revenge on the line???? Yes Penn State, that is you my friend.

Brick of the Week

Wow, reality really set back in for most people this week. The average number of correct picks this week was 4.29. WOW! Honestly there were so many upsets that it was hard to get a brick … at least for some one, right? Well, typically the BOTW is given to someone who goes out on a limb picking an upset, only to see that limb break on them. There wasn't any of that this week. However, there were two games that not ONE person picked correctly. Yep, all 22 of us went 0-for on those two games. Because of that, it is a Pick-EM BOTW for everyone missing the Iowa win in Happy Valley, and the stunning win by the South Florida Bulls in Tallahassee. Congratulations folks! 🙂

Pick of the Week

This week, there was another major upset besides the two in the BOTW that no one saw coming. However, this particular upset was predicted by two contestants. This upset was the unthinkable win by Oregon against Cal in Autzen Stadium. Who honestly can say they thought Oregon would BLOW OUT #6 Cal. The Ducks had NO offense before this game. They somehow managed to get 42 points and hold the most explosive running back in college football through 3 weeks to only 55 yards on 16 carries. Amazing. There were two though that thought the Ducks would win and they get the POTW. They are Mr. Jason "Don't doubt the Quack Attack" Shirey and Mr. Charles "Come on Sam Bradford" Hopkins. Congratulations guys.

Champion of the Week

Of course, it is obvious that no one got more than 8 correct picks this week. And as hard as it is to believe we actually did have someone pick 8 games correct in this most wild of weekends in college football. I couldn't believe it as I was tallying the results that someone would be able to get 8 correct. Amazing if you ask me. That individual of course will be the COTW for this week. For correctly getting 8 picks, the COTW for Week 4 is Mr. Jason "I'm a man! I'm 40!" Shirey. Congratulations my friend!
