Here are my picks:
#21 Wisconsin @ #1 Ohio State (Line: Ohio State by 15.5)
The Buckeyes just continue to win, win, win (in the regular season that is). It is just real hard to take them for real knowing how they steam rolled everyone last year and then got just plastered by Florida in the BCS Championship Game. Wisconsin depends too much on the run and is very one-dimensional. The Buckeye defense has improved each week. In the Horseshoe the Buckeyes win again.
Badgers 13 Buckeyes 31
#24 Wake Forest @ #23 Virginia (Line: Deacons by 1)
Virginia has to be the luckiest team in America or they are just good enough. They have won their last 3 games by a total of 4 points. Most of them on the last play or next to last play of the game. They are playing at home, but the Deacons are just a very solid team this year. Their defense is very good and their offense is coming around. The Deacons steal one from the Cavs this time at the end.
Deacons 21 Cavaliers 20
Nebraska @ #8 Kansas (Line: Jayhawks by 19.5)
Wow how things have changed. Kansas a 19 point favorite over Nebraska??? Wow. The Jayhawks are for real this year though and they keep showing it week after week. After last week's dominating performance in College Station, I think a lot of people really started taking notice. This week they slam the door on Callahan in Lincoln. I don't see how he makes it another week there. Mangino coasts in the second half at home against the Huskers.
Cornhuskers 14 Jayhawks 42
Texas Tech @ Baylor (Line: Tech by 21)
Everyone needs a gimmie this week and this is it. If the Raiders don't rebound and just throttle the Bears then they may be in for a long finish to this season. They have to get back to their defense stopping people. If not, man oh man. Harrell and Crabtree play this weekend and the D comes along as well to Waco.
Raiders 52 Bears 24
#12 Michigan @ Michigan State (Line: Wolverines by 4.5)
One the surface this is a mismatch. On the reality it is a very intense in-state rivalry. Also, didn't Michigan lose to App State earlier in the year and are now in the top 15?? I don't think Michigan is that good, but State is not that good either. The State defense has been giving up rushing yards by the bucket. If Hart can play it will be easier. If he doesn't, expect a close game.
Wolverines 28 Spartans 21
#15 Texas @ Oklahoma State (Line: Texas by 3)
If they could give an award for the most overrated program over the past 100 years in college football, then Texas would win hands down. They aren't even close to beinig the 15 best team in college football this year. I can name 15 programs that should be ranked ahead of them besides the 14 that already are. They just aren't very good. Their defense hasn't shown an ability to consistently stop anyone through the air all year. Guess what? OSU loves to throw the ball. Look for the Cowpokes to lasso the Shorthorns in Stillwater.
Shorthorns 28 Cowboys 38
#3 LSU @ #17 Alabama (Line: LSU by 7.5)
This is the trendy pick for an upset, but I am just not buying it. Alabama is just too inconsistent on offense and that LSU defense (although banged up pretty good) is still the best the Tide will have faced all year. Parker Wilson will have to have another monster game if the Tide want to keep it close. I think though that Les Miles, who had to go buy a bigger hat during the off week last week, will once again roll the dice and show he is more of a gambler than Saban. He will begin to help those still not hating Saban in Baton Rogue to start. I think that LSU makes a statement today.
Tigers 31 Tide 14
South Carolina @ Arkansas (Line: Arkansas by 5.5)
This could be the best game of the day. ESPN2 @ 7:00 pm. It could also be the game where D-Mac jumps right back into the Heisman race. He has Tennessee next week on TV and then LSU to end the season in Baton Rogue on CBS as well. Three good games and Hog wins will most definitely place him right back in the thick of it. The Gamecocks haven't been able to stop the run all year and that is good for Arkansas. The Gamecock offense of the first half last week in Knoxville would be handy for the hogs too. However, the D is playing exceptionally well over the last 5 games, allowing only 3 TDs; all of them in blowout wins. I think Arkansas comes out ready tonite.
Gamecocks 17 Hogs 35
Vanderbilt @ #20 Florida (Line: Gators by 16.5)
If Super Tebow is healthy then this won't be much of a game. If he is still banged up a little, it probably will be close. However, in the Swamp, the Gators won't let Meyer lose his 4th SEC game of this season. They come out inspired and want to prove that last year was no joke. Chomp! Chomp!
Vandy 17 Gators 34
Give the Score:
#4 Arizona State @ #5 Oregon (Line: Ducks by 7)
There is no place in college football louder than Autzen Stadium per capita. Period. The unis that Oregon brings out each week are also just mind boggling (if not ugly) at times. Although Dennis Erickson has his team playing very well this year, I just don't think they go on the road and win in Eugene. I mean, the Ducks beat USC here last weekend. I think that Coach Belloti has his team ready for a possible BCS Championship run and Dennis Dixon is in the lead on the Heisman after this game. Look for a high scoring affair.
Devils 24 Ducks 35
