Here are my thoughts this week:
Notre Dame @ Purdue (Line: Purdue -21.5)
Ok, so the worst season in Irish history continues today as Charlie Weis and the Irish fall to 0 – 5 at the hands of the Boilermakers. Purdue is very balanced on offense and well, ND is not. Claussen might make it interesting in the first half and might even throw his first TD pass. However, as has become obvious, those 4 National Championships he promised when he rolled into South Bend in his hummer, well, they aren't going to happen. Classic Claussen.

So, the Ole Ball Coach has a very good team. Just because they lost to LSU isn't anything to hang your head about. That Gamecock Defense is very, very good. They held LSU in check for most of the day. However, the offense just couldn't get past that stout LSU D. This week, the Gamecocks get another decent defensive team. Not great, just decent. The Bulldogs are trying to win 4 in a row for the first time in 8 years. I just don't see it. This isn't Auburn and interception-happy Brandon Cox they are playing here. The Ole Ball Coach wins again.

Mississippi @ #15 Georgia (Line: Gawga -15)
So the best win since Ed Orgeron came to Ole Miss just might be their LOSS by 6 last week in Oxford to #3 Florida. They showed some life as a football team and Florida was as flat as an oppossum on a two-lane southern road. Don't look for Georgia to be flat at home. Ole Miss just isn't that good on either side of the ball. Don't look for a high scoring affair.

ZeroU is playing at such a high level right now it is almost unbelievable to comprehend. It is doubtful they can continue at that high of a level, but don't look for it to let down this weekend in Boulder. The Sooners will easily handle the Buffaloes as the rebuilding under Don Haskins continues.

Michigan State @ #9 Wisconsin (Line: Badgers -7)
This is my upset special of the week. These are basically the exact same teams. They both love to run the ball and they both have just mammoth offensive lines to run behind. It will all come down to how well either of them can pass the ball. MSU will have a better chance due to the ineffective pass rush of the Badgers. The Badgers however, might not be as lucky. If they can slow down the MSU pass rush, they might have a chance. Being in Camp Randall is in the Badgers favor. However, in the end, Sparty stops the Badgers two year undefeated run through the Big 10.

#13 Clemson @ Georgia Tech (Line:Tigers -3)
Has any team fallen further quicker than the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech?? After starting the season 2 – 0 and being ranked in the Top 15 in the country, the Yellow Jackets are now 2 – 2 having lost back-to-back games and are staring their first 3 game losing streak in 10 years squarely in the face. The Jackets have had a ton of injuries and their defense has softened quite a bit from those first 2 games. Clemson hasn't exactly been rolling over people to their 4 – 0 start. However, with all the injuries and even at home, the Jackets can't stop the talkback tandem of Davis and Spiller.

Auburn @ #4 Florida (Line: Florida -18.5)
There is a couple of old sayings that "revenge is sweet" and "paybacks are hell". Boy do they both ever apply in this game. Last year the only team to beat Florida was Auburn down on the Plains of Alabama. This year? Well, probably not going to be the only team to be Florida. Florida may not lose this year. Auburn already has. Twice. At home. Brandon Cox has be atrocious this year. Auburn has depended upon the run almost all year. Florida, well, they may not rush the passer, but you don't run on them. Period. Not good for the Tigers.

This game should be a game for the Hogs to work on the passing game. I hope they aren't distracted by trying to give McFadden a big game to pad his Heisman stats. He won't win the Heisman if the Hogs don't develop some type of balance on offense so even if he has 400 yards and 6 TD, it won' matter if they don't do something in the air attack. I am not suggesting throwing it 50+ times. I am suggesting working on the passing game when you have game-time opportunities this week and next. Casey Dick better show he can be a QB or his brother Nathan will be given the shot early and often in this one.

#22 Alabama @ Florida State (Line: Seminoles -2)
Ok, so I don't like Bama and Nick Satan at all. However, Papa Bowden and the Seminoles haven't shown they are any semblance of his teams in the last 80's – early 2000's. One thing Satan has brought to Bama is confidence. Now granted most of that confidence has been generated by winning at home and they haven't played in a hostile road environment yet this year (although this game is in Jacksonville and not Tallahassee). However, the Seminole D is just not there yet and the Bama offense is fairly balanced. Parker Wilson and the Freshman RB Grant will have good games and the Tide will win going away.

#6 California @ #11 Oregon (Line: Ducks -4.5)
You can't spell Offense without and O and an N and that just happens to be the first and last letters in Oregon. This game will feature two of the more prolific offenses in the Pac-10 and quite possibly in the country. The Ducks are rolling with QB Dennis Dixon putting on show after show leading this spread offense of Coach Mike Bellotti. Cal on the other hand is just the same ol Cal team of the past couple of year behind Jeff Tedford and QB Nate Longshore. This game will be more track meet than football game. I am not sure what the O/U is on the game, but if it isn't triple digits, I would take it if I were a betting man. In the end, Oregon walks away victorious and Dennis Dixon makes a statement for the Heisman Trophy.
