RazorPicks — Week 6 My Picks

Here are my picks for the week…

Bowling Green @ #7 Boston College (Line: Eagles by 20)
Well, although Boston College has been playing extremely well this year and are off to a 5 – 0 record, they had better not be taking the Falcons from Bowling Green lightly. If they need any reminders of why not, then they simply have to look back to the game the Falcons game Nebraska in Lincoln two weeks ago. If not for a missed field goal at the buzzer, the Falcons would have beaten the Huskers. Expect Ryan to have another stellar game as he continues to lead the Eagles to the ACC crown.

Falcons 24 Eagles 35

#4 Ohio State @ #23 Purdue (Line: Buckeyes -7)
The Boilermakers get Ohio State and Michigan back on their schedule this year. And they get them back-to-back. Now although they are 5 – 0, the Boilermakers haven't really played anyone this year. Yeah, they played Notre Dame, but big deal this year. The Boilermaker offense is very good. However, the defense did struggle against ND in giving up 19 points to the worst offense in college football. Ohio State will move the ball and their D will be just good enough.

Buckeyes 28 Makers 24

#10 Oklahoma @ #19 Texas (Line: Sooners -11)
Ok, so the "Red River Shootout" really isn't that big of a deal this year. If it were not for two stunning upsets last weekend, this game would be much bigger this week in college football. However, with ZeroU losing @ Colorado in the 4th quarter and Texas being just dominated at home by K-State, this game is well….boring. It is a survival of the fittest. The loser is 0 – 2 in the Big XII and for all intensive purposes out of the title race. It is a pity both teams can't lose. However, ZeroU just has more talent this year and much better coaching. They run away with it in the 4th quarter.

Sooners 35 Shorthorns 17

#20 Cincinnati @ #21 Rutgers (Line: Rutgers -3.5)
Last year the Bearcats upended the undefeated Scarlet Knights in Cincy and spoiled the Scarlet Knights BCS Championship chances. This year the game is Piscataway, New Jersey and it will be much tougher for that Bearcat team to rise above the Scarlet Knights. However, I think they just might have the team to do it this year. I think Cincy is for real and I think Rutgers is way over-rated (again). Ray Rice can't do it all and the Scarlet Knights lose for the second time in a row this year.

Bearcats 31 Scarlet Knights 24

#15 Virginia Tech @ #22 Clemson (Line: Tigers -5.5)
Clemson ran into a buzz-saw last weekend in Atlanta, when Georgia Tech and their rejuvenated defense shut down the attack of Davis and Spiller and limited the Tiger offense to just a measly 3 points. This weekend won't be any easier as the Tigers face a traditionally stout Hokie defense. The difference? This game will be in Tiger Stadium and not in Blacksburg. I look for the rushing attack to get back on track and for Clemson to bounce back against the Hokies.

Chattanooga @ Arkansas (No Line)
So, if I had to be realistic about this game, I would simply take McFadden all by himself and see what he could do against the Mocs. This is the get the passing game more in order before next week's showdown with Auburn game. McFadden is 136 yards away from becoming the all-time leading rusher in Arkansas history. I hope he gets close and then they let him break the record next weekend on ESPN in Fayetteville against Auburn. It will literally be as many points as the Razorbacks want. Hopefully the D can play as well as last week end limit the Mocs to a shutout.

Iowa State @ Texas Tech (Line: Tech -24.5)
Iowa State is struggling mightily this year under first year coach Gene Chizik. They beat in-state rival Iowa, but then lost to Toledo and Nebraska. They just aren't very good this year. IF Tech doesn't win this game, they are going to have a long row to hoe this year in the Big XII South. They still have Texas A&M, Texas, ZeroU and a road trip to Mizzou. Yikes! Tech should win easily.

Cyclones 21 Red Raiders 41

#25 Nebraska @ #17 Missouri (Line: Missouri -7)
This is once again a very talented Mizzou team. This Nebraska team was supposed to be the team to get the Huskers back to an elite program. Then something happened along the way (Southern Cal) and it appears that the wheels may have come off on defense. After giving up 45 to Souther Cal in Lincoln, the Black Shirts gave up 40 to Bowling Green. Wow! This Tiger team at home will roll if the Husker defense doesn't come to play. Well, they may roll anyways.

Huskers 24 Tigers 41

Oklahoma State @ Texas A&M (Line: A&M -6)
Ok, so it is time to see which Cowboy team is here to stay. The one that was beaten by Troy or the one that beat Texas Tech. If this game were in Stillwater I have a feeling it would be a whole different story. However, this game is in College Station where right now, it probably isn't a good place to be if your name is Dennis Franchione. Not after it was revealed he was selling inside information about the program to big-time donors for $1200/pop. I guess making $2,000,000 a year coaching football wasn't paying the bills. Anyways, the running game of the Aggies will chew up time on the clock and keep the offense of the Cowboys on the bench long enough to win.

Give the Score:
#9 Florida @ #1 LSU (Line: Tigers -9)
As Keith Jackson used to say "Whoa Nellie!!!" This should be one outstanding ballgame. Florida doesn't have a whole lot going for it in this game though. Last year the Gators made the Tigers look silly in the Swamp when they put a hurt on them. Last year Auburn had beaten the Gators the week before. Last year the only loss the Gators had was to Auburn. Hmmm, something sounds eerily familiar here. The only difference in this year's equation? Tiger Stadium. At night. LSU Defense. Revenge. Those four things will spell doom for Meyer's boys from Gainsville. The quest for back-to-back BCS Championships ends in Baton Rogue this weekend. LSU pulls out a squeaker and an instant classic one their way to an undefeated season.
